My Everyday Life

I live in the beautiful mountains near Park City, Utah with my husband Steve, our four kids, and a St. Bernard. I’m lucky enough to be within 10 minutes of my parents, grandma, and 5 of my 7 siblings, and often fill in at the family business. I have over 150 bottles of nail polish, love chick-lit and trashy romance novels, and pride myself on the useless trivia I keep stored in my head. I’m also a bit of a movie buff, and you can find every single genre of music on my iPod, which contains “the most random playlists ever” according to my friends and family.

The Design Story

I started as a digital scrapper in January 2009 with an old copy of PSE 5. Within a couple of months I knew I wasn’t going back to paper, so I sold the bulk of my supplies and used the money to buy CS5. I have not looked back.

I began designing in April of 2011. My designs have been produced in paper by My Mind’s Eye and DCWV, and there is no greater rush than going into a scrapbook or craft store and seeing something I created. I tend toward very graphic and linear patterns, and my love of color and irreverent sense of humor definitely shape my aesthetic.

My professional career may have taken a path I did not anticipate, but I am so very blessed to be traveling this road with such an amazing crew. Not only do I get to work with such a talented group professionally, I get to call them friends.

Why I Love It

You always hear people talk about how a picture tells a thousand words. While pictures are important, the story behind the picture is what I want to know.

Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.*

And, yes, it’s true. I’m not a consecutive scrapper. I will never be “caught up.” I might scrap the same photo five different times, but each one will be telling a different story. I might not use a single photo on a layout. Yeah, the creative aspect is fun. Yes, I get to play with technology. But, at the end of the day, it’s all about the stories.

Thank you for reading mine, and I can’t wait to learn yours.
